Putting My Experience
to Work for Pacifica

Marj moved to Pacifica in 1985 – 35 years ago – and has been involved in giving back to the community since.  She served as President and Treasurer of Pacifica’s Environmental Family during her 6 years on the board.  She is currently a Pacifica Resource Center board member.  She is also Treasurer for Pacifica Gardens and was Co-Director, Business and Administration of Pacifica Gardens.  Marj has been an active volunteer with Pacific Beach Coalition and the Pacifica Resource Center.

Marj was a parent volunteer throughout her children’s elementary and junior high school education years in the Pacifica School District.  She was a classroom volunteer, field trip leader, parent chaperone and was active in event coordination and fundraising.

Professionally, Marj has been involved in technical sales and business management for the last 30 years, including budgeting, facilities management, expense control and strategic planning.  She has a degree in Business Management, graduating summa cum laude, including study in Non-Profit Management.  She has training in Bookkeeping for Non-Profits and completed the “Be The Change” program, a social and environmental leadership program offered by Acterra, Palo Alto CA.  In her free time, Marj enjoys hiking, gardening, knitting, and is an avid birder.

Marj is committed to giving to those in need, contributing to her community, being a steward of the earth and the environment and preserving Pacifica’s natural resources and beauty.

Leadership Endorsements

“I look forward to working with Marj on critical issues facing Pacifica and the County such as

wildfire, sea level rise and homelessness. As a Pacifica City Councilmember, Marj would bring a

thoughtful, compassionate and diligent approach to addressing these issues and

other challenges confronting us during these trying times.”

I’m running for Pacifica City Council, District 4. I want to provide balance on the Council.  My goal is to make a difference and a contribution to the community where I’ve loved living for 35 years.

I care about senior services and services for people in need.  In this COVID pandemic, I support the efforts of Pacifica City Council to keep Pacifica safe.  I want to make a positive impact on people’s lives, especially the most vulnerable in our community.

I care about preserving the beauty and natural resources of our community.  I’m proud of what we’ve done to protect our environment.

I’m past President and Treasurer of Pacifica’s Environmental Family.  I’m currently on a leave of absence from the Pacifica Resource Center board and am Treasurer for Pacifica Gardens.  I’m an active volunteer with Pacific Beach Coalition.  I was a parent volunteer in the Pacifica School District  (Fellow parents may remember me as Marj Burnfield.).

I am strongly in favor of fiscal responsibility.  I have a degree in Business Management and training in Non-Profit Management and Bookkeeping for Non-Profits.

I enjoy hiking, gardening, knitting, and I’m an avid birder.  I want to meet all of the voters in District 4.  I’d love to come to your door but in this pandemic that’s not possible.  I respect your personal boundaries.  I’d love to talk to you on the phone or in virtual meetings on the Internet.
